So...

I tend to set my exercise goals in six week segments. I find that for me, six weeks works-it's long enough to see change, and a little bit of results, while not being so long that it feels unattainable, or unreasonable. The goals aren't necessarily complicated, but they work for me. And sometimes, at the end of a cycle, I'll entice myself with a reward.

I'm nearing the end of a six week cycle. And my reward this time is to buy some new clothes for working out. I want some new shorts, and new sports bras. So plus sized women (and formerly plus sized women) what are some of your favorite places for that sort of wear? I also may invest in some new socks, but that's kind of a minor thing, unless someone has a fabulous outstanding favorite kind of socks. I also need a couple of tank tops, but that's also not a huge thing.

I'll probably need to replace my sneakers soon, as well, but that's kind of a down the road a bit thing.

K likes Junonia for workout/sports clothes.

I really like their QuikWik fabric for bike shorts.

I've actually never bought anything from them I didn't like -- last year, I bought a pair of quick-drying nylon travel pants for them, and they're fantastic.

I couldn't agree more. I love their sports bras and I also have various lengths of shorts. I bought a Yogatard from them as well that I LOOOOOOVE and would love to have another, except for the price. Their pieces are definitely "investment" pieces, due to the price, but thankfully they stand up very well.

The swimsuit I bought from them was modest and did a good job of not bunching anywhere. In fact, I had a lady asked me at the pool where I got it because she noticed it fit me so well and I wasn't bulging anywhere obvious or falling out or any of the normal issues.

I've tried searching for coupons or special offers, I just usually tend to buy things when they have their new colors in and clearance the off season colors (because really, I don't care about the color - only the fit).

Yeah, I can't afford their prices, so I always shop their clearance section. :-)

Torrid has workout stuff, methinks. For sports bras try Nordstrom or figleaves.com, particularly if you're a large cup size.

I don't know about places, but I love love love my Moving Comfort bras. They don't pull, tug, give me sausage boob or anything else unpleasant. They're lovely.

For socks, I really really like Thorlos (http://www.thorlo.com/ws6/socks_home.php). They cost quite a bit more than the average bag-o'-crew-socks, but if you're doing any sort of activity that puts a lot of stress on your feet they're totally worth it -- they have a range styles with extra padding and support meant to go with different activities and styles of footwear. They're very comfortable and quite durable, and many of their styles even come in a range of sizes instead of the usual "one-size-fits-most" that leaves folks with larger-or-smaller-than-usual feet with a lousy fit. They really are a fabulous outstanding favorite here for days when I'm going to be spending a lot of time on my blister-prone feet, and I'd heartily recommend getting at least one or two pairs to keep on hand for workouts, long walks, etc.

For someone who rarely wears socks, I actually have a lot of opinions about them. (I do wear socks for any type of athletic endeavor or serious walking.)

Anyway, Thorlo socks are great, but you might also try a pair of WrightSock Double Layer Socks (available at REI), or Wigwam Ultimax Cool-Lite Socks (also available at REI) which are probably my favorite socks. They're also slightly less expensive than similar Thorlos.

I've tried the Double Layer Socks and found they did a nice job of blister prevention too, but I just prefer the cushiness of the heavier padding in the Thorlos. They are a little thinner, though, which can be handy if you have shoes that aren't quite roomy enough to cope with the extra thickness of the fluffier Thorlo styles.
